Winged Wheel at the Cactus Club in Milwaukee on May 12, 2025

Indie rock supergroup Winged Wheel came through Milwaukee a few days ago riding on an impressive wave of good press and well deserved fan-fueled hype into the familiar confines of the Cactus Club. They certainly lived up to their reputation of deep heady jamming. 

Core members Cory Plump (Spray Paint, Rider/Horse, Expensive Shit), Fred Thomas (Tyvek, Idle Ray), Whitney Johnson (Matchess, Damiana), and Matthew Rolin (Powers/Rolin Duo) expanded their lineup recently when recording their second album to include Lonnie Slack (Water Damage) and Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth).

Ryan Sarnowski was there to capture some really wonderful images of the show and I'm very happy he consented to my posting these here.
